Uplands is a multinational school and a recent census showed that our families speak over 30 different first languages.
Many of our children are bilingual and we have a deep appreciation of the richness that different languages bring to our community.
Spanish is the modern foreign language that we have chosen to deliver at Uplands and it is an essential element of our curriculum.
Teaching staff plan their lessons using materials from Language Angels. The lessons are designed to motivate, captivate and interest children from the first moment. They have clear, achievable objectives and incorporate different learning styles. SEN children have access to the curriculum through variation of task, grouping or support from an adult.
We celebrated our own International Day with a Spanish lunch. The paella was delicious!
