ANDY SHEPHERD – the author of ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ – spoke to the Year 3 children via Teams on Wednesday. The children were so excited to be speaking to the author of the book they are reading in their English lessons, which they are thoroughly enjoying. She was very inspirational and provided them with some good ideas on how they can begin to write stories just by looking at their everyday world and asking the question ‘What if….?’ She gave them this suggestion: ‘What if the bench I sat on began to talk to me and started telling me about all the people who sat on it every day?’ She also answered many of the children’s questions. She explained the book writing process and why it is so important to keep reading, re-reading and editing and proofreading. A lovely treat for the hard-working children.
